For those who missed the story, Tim Lincecum got busted for marijuana possession in Oregon on October 30th. It got pleaded down to a misdemeanor and shouldn't make a difference on anything. But Andrew Baggarly, the Merc's Giants beat reporter has fun with the story:
The embarrassment might be the worst thing to come out of this. I’d be surprised if Lincecum loses any endorsements. And besides, it’s not like this comes as a shock. Lincecum dresses like he’s a cross between Jimbo Jones from “The Simpsons” and Jay from “Clerks.” Maybe he’ll drop all pretenses and start wearing dreads.

I am a big Lincecum fan and think he is one of the premier pitchers in the game. He probably won't lose any endorsements, but doesn't have many to lose. (His biggest being with 2K sports for the 2K9 ESPN baseball videogame game.) I do think this will make brands think twice about future endorsements.
Hopefully Lincecum is enjoying life in his twenties as a premier big leaguer and at the same time busting his butt to take advantage of all the talent that he was blessed with. As long as he continues to win and be the dominant pitcher he should be, this will be viewed as character building and charming. As soon as he struggles...well, you know the drill, just ask Zito.
